Interior

Inspiration of Regium Waterfront is from the organic shapes of a starfish. The symmetry of this shapes helps to coordinate the communication and circulation between different sections of the museum and its other facilities.

Exterior

The impressive concrete surface and the glass window create a fluid space. The building is a perfect rectangle when seen in a plan view, the curves and slopes which define the interior space give the building a totally organic look.
'Human movements are not linear like the way a train travel, but curve in a more organic way. With straight line we can only create a crossroads, but with curves we can create more diverse interactions,' states SANAA.

Interior

For my building, to show one of the concept: movement, I would create a space not only has a curves surface and external appearance to reflect movement, but people can also walk in it and create the movement within the building.

Precedent Study & Design Proposal

1. Project one outline

The buildings I chose for project one are Glasgow Riverside Museum of Transport and Maggie's Center Fife by Zaha Hadid.
The concepts are
~ Movement
~ Projection

Concept Model

2. Visual Analysis of two Precedent Studies as a Pair
Zaha Hadid, Regium Waterfront, Italy

~ Movement:  the external appearance of this building has a smooth and curved shape. The ceiling & walls are one continuous surface: parts of the ceiling going down and touch the ground to form walls and entrances.
~ Projection:  this building includes a museum and a performing arts centre, which can project people from one area to the other area.

SANAA, Rolex Learning Centre, Switzerland
~ Movement: movement is shown from both exterior and interior view, the floor and the ceiling are undulating.
~ Projection: the learning centre is seperated and divided into few sections by the punctuating holes, so people could be projected from one place to the other.
3. A Design Proposal and Design Draft for Assignment three
~ Shopping Mall
Shopping mall is a place where has a lot of stores and the continual stream of people can create movement when they go from this store to the others.

~ Retail Store
Inspired by the IKEA retail store plan, its like a maze, has many doors indicate people from this sections to the others by creating ribbon-like cureves
examples:
IkeaLV
~ Art Gallery
Art gallery normally has a large space where I can create an area project to the otherside. A curved path or spiral stairs can also create movement inside the gallery.
